World Homeless Day is a global event that takes place annually on October 10th. After emerging from online discussions between people responding to homelessness in 2010, the yearly event is now observed in various countries across all continents to draw attention to those who face homelessness in their lives.
People worldwide take the initiative in their communities to give back to those experiencing homelessness through volunteering, donations, education, and highlighting the issue. The Elongate community members who participated in the #Run4Elongate event in Belgium decided to take action. They partnered up with the European Continent Manager from Elongate, who coordinated efforts to support the homeless.
Hygiene items, underwear, neck warmers, gloves, and food were sourced and distributed to 40 people. Elongate distributed the supplies at the Pierre D’Angle homeless shelter in Brussels, Belgium and supported the shelter’s volunteers during their night shift. The Elongate team also showcased the initiative on their socials to spread awareness and bring attention to homelessness.
