ELONGATE Provides Food Relief for Lebanese and Syrian Refugees

The ELONGATE Social Impact Team and their volunteers provided much-needed food packages to over 100 Syrian and Lebanese families. Many of these families are refugees displaced due to conflict. The packages contained noodles, rice, flour, and more. Each one will provide a family of four with ten days worth of food.

The team supported families in the villages of Qob Elias and Majdal Anjar located at the border of Lebanon and Syria, where the poverty rate and refugee population are high. Due to the conflict in Syria and proximity to the border, these villages have high numbers of refugees in need of support.

Since October 2019, the Lebanese economy has been plunged into a frightful financial crisis. As a result, the Lebanese pound has significantly declined in value. The inflation rate skyrocketed in the first half of 2021, contributing to a rise in poverty. Over %70 of people living in Lebanon are now affected by poverty.
