In July, ELONGATE hosted a Minecraft Competition for charity. Online gamers from the Elongate community assembled and represented a charitable organization of their choice by creating virtual structures and artwork that represented a variety of charities. The event was live-streamed on YouTube, and the community voted on which creations they liked most. The team representing Action Against Hunger won the competition.
As the winner of the competition, Action Against Hunger received a $75,000 donation from Elongate. The contribution will go towards their Haiti Relief fund. A recent earthquake in the country led to half a million people being displaced or needing assistance. Action Against Hunger is on the ground providing food, water, medical supplies, and general relief efforts.
Action Against Hunger is the largest international NGO that focuses on world hunger. They serve some of the hardest to reach communities around the globe in areas often separated by conflict zones or geographical barriers. The organization is leading innovation in treating severe malnutrition and provides nutritional support, hygiene and sanitation, pandemic relief, disaster response, and more in the areas they serve.
This donation was a part of a long-term partnership between the two organizations. As of August 2021, Elongate has donated over $400,000 to Action Against Hunger, worked to onboard them to accepting cryptocurrency, and showcased the organization on their socials.
