ELONGATE Sponsors School Initiatives in Mexico

There is a lingering issue across Mexico regarding the public primary school system. Many schools currently lack regular maintenance and are in need of restoration and upgrades. On average only 17 of every 100 primary school students will have earned a degree by adulthood. Unidos MX, a youth-led non-profit organization, aims to change this.

Supported by 80 young volunteers, the organization launched a new initiative to restore and improve primary schools across Mexico. Each month their team will focus on a new location, renovating key facilities such as bathrooms, water systems, entrances, and classrooms. In addition, they are donating new school supplies and organizing workshops hosted by experts on the topics of health, technology, climate change, and environmental stewardship.

The overall goal of the United For Schools Initiative is to bring dignity back to thousands of young students, empower youth, build a sense of community, and improve the tools of learning for all future generations.

During the month of April, the team set their focus on the Jose María Morelos located in Cancún, Quintana Roo. The school has an enrolment of over 300 young students who are directly impacted by this initiative.

ELONGATE initially forged a partnership with Unidos MX last year, where they sponsored Project Unity 2021.
